As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen.

There's a park on the waterfront appropriately named Adventure Playground. It's a place where kids can pound nails, build forts and let their imaginations run wild. This playground is a challenge for my inner helicopter parent. In my less generous moments, I call it "Tetanus Park". Really, let the boys play with tools and nails?! Climb structures only God knows will stand?! But it is an adventure ... and a glorious adventure at that!

It's a happy place for my busy boys

What a fabulous treasure to have in your community! I would love to have something like that near by. Instead I let my son climb all over the boat yard ;)
oh my gosh...the girls would be in heaven! so wonderful!
wow! what a place to adventure! i love *my inner helicopter parent*. you make me giggle. i can empathize with the tetanus potential and with the boys untethered wild rumpus! ;)
We were there a few weeks ago. Can't get enough of this place! My kids LOVE the zip-line.
We always head down to the shore and hunt for crabs afterwards. Your boys are getting so big!!
have a great week

I've seen these in magazines (and heard them talked about in Last Child in the Woods) and always wished we had one near us. How much fun your boys seem to be having! You seem to have access to all the best things! We might need to come visit you. :)
Wow, what an awesome park!! My boys would love it. I might hide the hammer from my accident-prone 2yo, but otherwise it looks great;)
Sweet photos, Marina. I have memories of playing there when I was a kid. It is full of junk, which is the most creative, fun part!

lovely pictures!
I really like that place and I miss something like that in this town :-)
Love,

A really cool place!
So fun! After reading Last Child in the Woods, I want to campaign for one of these in my town.
What a fabulous playground! Your boys look blissfully happy playing there. We go to a fair every fall here in Maine that has a wonderful children's area with boards, nails, and hammers. My son loves it....and always develops a post-fair cold a few days later that I blame on the hammers!
We have nothing like that here...every playground thingy is molded, ugly faux-wood or plastic.
Your photographs are breathtaking--such joy and freedom.
This is so cool...I love the quote!
I saw this before but realized I got off the computer before I left a comment :-)
Wow that place looks amazing! My children would absolutely love such a playground, filled with simple and wild fun!!!

What a fun place for adventure!
Wonderful photos, lovely children. Whereabouts is this adventure playground? I am researching to write a post on these adventurous gifts to play in my blog http://playgroundology.wordpress.com.
Cheers
